A Well Trodden Path

A two part series about an unfounded theory I have that the experience of walking this terribly maintained path is similar to the experience of living and working in London. I may come back to this at some point.

The first video of the series was filmed and recorded on the 8th February, where I was optimistic enough to try and speak to people as it was snowing. Nobody came, and I got cold and went home. I think the video works well as an introduction, though. Of course, Patrick Keiller is a big influence and inspiration on this.

In part two, I abandon the premise of this path being a metaphor for the London experience, and simply ask people why they’re there. I think, in psychogeography and elsewhere, there is a modern tendency to lean towards inner monologues and private notions as if they’re truth. I want to abandon this idea of visiting an area, coming to a conclusion about it in your little notebook, and leaving. What’s more important is to find a common truth by asking a range of people for their thoughts. Humility will lead us to more answers, and, more importantly, questions, than lone pondering. But that’s just my opinion.
